3 silent Fat-Burning switches <--- Flip to "ON"

Published: Sat, 05/03/14

Did you know that your thyroid gland regulates your metabolism? Well, thanks to environmental factors and over processed foods, most people have thyroid glands that are not working well.

That could mean that you have a "broken" metabolism that could be making you fatter.

You see, over processed foods are lacking the nutrients that your thyroid needs to optimize your T3 hormone. Your T3 (or Triiodothyronine) regulates fat, protein, and carbohydrate metabolism, so it's a very important hormone for fat loss.

Here are the 3 best ways to increase T3 levels and flip 3 of your Internal Fat Burning switches to "on". . .

1. Eat enough calories.

When people go on a diet, they often drop their calories way too low. When your body feels that it is starving, it lowers its metabolism and holds on to body fat for "survival." Make sure you consume enough calories - no less than 1200 for women and at least 1800 for men (though for most, 1600 and 2100 are more appropriate minimums).

2. Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet.

In addition to getting enough calories, make sure the foods you choose are rich in nutrients. The efficiency of T3 is impaired if you aren't feeding your body the minerals it needs to produce it, especially selenium, iodine, and zinc. Selenium is found in nuts, seeds, bran, oats, and most all seafood.

Iodine is found in shellfish, beans, sesame seeds, soybeans, spinach, and squash. And zinc is mostly found in crab, dairy, chicken, turkey, nuts, and beans.

3. Take a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement.

If you have trouble getting selenium, iodine, and zinc from food, take a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement. Look for a supplement that has 50 mcg of selenium, 150 mcg of iodine, and 11 mg of zinc. The Metabolic Killers of processed foods and environmental toxins could be sabotaging your body and making you fatter.

My friend and metabolism expert Nate has developed a metabolism calculator that will tell you if your metabolism is too slow and what you can do to FIX it.
